The release of the End of You debut “Unreal” in 2006 graced the Finnish music with a welcome and well received slab of what the band themselves call machine driven melancholic rock. Critically acclaimed in itself, with the grand entrance of “Mimesis” the debut is now exceeded in every possible way.

In the arts, mimesis is considered by some to be re-presenting the human emotions in new ways and thus representing to the onlooker, listener or reader the inherent nature of these emotions and the psychological truth of the work of art.

That’s exactly what End of You, the elegant gentlemen of dark rock set out to achieve with their sophomore effort. Given that the emotions represented here are a bit more on the gloomy side, we feel the mission has been accomplished. We’re not the only ones either, as the 1st single from the album, “You Deserve More”, has already seen steady rotation on all major radio stations in band’s native Finland. Together with its new video “You Deserve More” is contributing yet more to the cross-genre buzz that has revolved around the quintet ever since its inception in 2003, everywhere from rock clubs to dance floors.

Everything but common in their persistence of vision, End of You has again compiled an elegant and rock solid album full of ear candy for the dark minded. In addition to the highlights from their own quill, the album also features a cover of the James Bond theme “Goldeneye”, originally performed by Tina Turner.

That said, the psychological truth and inherent nature of “Mimesis” are out there for every listener to find. While End of You are not about to hand it to out on a silver platter, they make sure that the audience will have the time of their life in search of it.
