Thundra was formed as a project between Harald (then a member of Enslaved), Stein (then a member of Einherjer ) and Nils (synth) in 1998. This to be able to make the other type of music they liked, and to have full control with the music.
The music was a crossover of different types metal with a touch of progressive sound. They soon realised that this was what they where meant for, and they decided to work on this full time.
When Harald and Stein left their former bands, Thundra recruited Rune (on guitar ), Steven(on vocals) and Thor Erik(guitar and vocals) to complete the band. They released the well reviewed album "Blood of your soul" on Spinefarm records in 2001 .
