Formed in 1994, the Hellsinki Death Rock cult legends Babylon Whores have steadily grown up to something frighteningly big and certainly something you just can not ignore. Well then, is it metal? Not quite. Is it rock? Not quite. Their venomous output is all piss-dirty, crunching guitars and Elvis-from-Hell vocals, musically diverse yet boasting a frightening (this seems to be a word often thrown about when talking about Babylon Whores) integrity all of its own. The dark sarcasm of Babylon Whores' lyrics could be described as the unearthed writings of a human society gone to hell in a hand-basket, asking "what the hell did we do wrong, where did we all got lost", mirroring the world through western occult and philosophic traditions and spitting venom over all our misconceptions of the ways of the world and the sheer blindness of it's inhabitants.

A seven inch single, three MCDs, two long-players & a thousand miles on the road to hell later, the ‘Whores have now returned home, so to speak, to the safe haven of Spinefarm Records, located in the heart of Hellsinki Rock City, with Necropolis still taking good care of the band in the States. The band did an extensive tour in the US in the summer of 2000, opening for King Diamond together with Shadows Fall and Deep in support of “King Fear”. The album was chosen as The Album of The Month in Terrorizer magazine immediately upon it’s release.

The recordings of "Death of The West" were begun in September 2001, and it was mixed by Hiili Hiilesmaa (famous for his work with HIM) and mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox. Having survived sleet, plague, locusts and other disasters of biblical proportions, Babylon Whores’ brand new epic, the definitive peak of their career, was finally scheduled to be unleashed in May 2002 in Finland and on the 26th of June 2002 in the States.

Praised by the Finnish metal-media and immediately hitting the Finnish album charts, Death of the West became an immediate success in its home country, and the rest of Europe will be on its knees in no-time: Germany's Hammer magazine gave it a 7 out of 7 points and placed onto the fourth place of their soundcheck!

We're talking apocalyptic Death Rock here, period. Babylon Whores is the houseband performing in the purgatory every night, from here to eternity.
