Spinefarm gets nearly a hundred demos every month. All of these tapes are listened to, but only a few are listened from beginning till end, and only a very, very low percentage of the tapes lead to a recording deal. If this hasn’t turned you off, then follow these instructions: 1. Make sure your demo songs are of good quality, but also make sure that you’ve got good songs. One good song with bad sound quality is worth more than 20 mediocre songs with superb sound quality! 2. Pick your best song, and make it into an mp3 file. In most cases we can only spare time to listen to one track, in some cases two 3. Create an e-mail message, and attach your mp3 into the message. Add your band's name as the subject of the message. 4. Write a short biography of your band. The biography must at least include your complete contact information (e-mail address, telephone number, mailing address, your website address if you have one), details about the genre of your music and details of your band’s lineup. Add this biography as the text content of your e-mail 5. Take a photograph of your band. Include the photo in your biography-sheet if you so wish or add it as a JPEG into your message 7. Send the e-mail to spinedemos at gmail dot com Once you’ve sent us your demo, all you can do is cross your fingers and hope for the best. Although we'd like to answer each and every demo sender individually, we simply do not have the time to do so. If we like your demo and want to sign your band, we will contact you. If we do not wish to sign you, we will stay as silent as ever. Calling or e-mailing us in hope of a faster answer won’t do you or us any good, it will just slow things down even more. Don’t call us, we'll call you! Bringing the demos personally to our office won’t do any good either, there is simply no possibility for arranging any "listening sessions", no matter how good your demo is. No! Non! Njet! Ei! Nein! Nej! We also can not, and will not send any unsolicited material back to you. Still up to it? Good! Then off you go and send us your package! Your demo just might make your band the next big Spinefarm-thing! |
